# The provider’s “DEX” field measured a different market

In the saved DefiLlama snapshot, centralized exchanges supplied 98.2% of CRV volume in the fallback “DEX” field.

That field classified exchanges missing from its centralized-exchange list as DEXs. Reconstructing the rule reproduces the reported value.

The preferred field measured perpetual-contract trading. The Ethereum spot-pool study measures a different market.

## What was inside the fallback “DEX” bucket?

One cached provider snapshot acquired on 27 October 2026. These are reported spot ticker volumes, not the two-year chain study. The fallback bucket is reconstructed from embedded tickers. The separate preferred market field reports perpetual volume in its DEX bucket.

| Observation | Cached CRV volume ($m) |

| Ethereum spot DEXs | 0.4803 |
| Other-chain spot DEXs | 0.1174 |

## Measurement

The provider observations were acquired on 27 October 2026. The rule is established by numerical reconstruction; the deployed implementation was unavailable. The two-year pool study is measured independently from exchange events.
